Saturday, July 11, 2009: Laura Hull and Her Jazz Gems debut at Richie Cecere's Restaurant and Supper Club, in Montclair, NJ. This 14,000 square foot, three floor restaurant houses a full in-house bakery, a dry-aged beef storage locker with onsite butchering, a 10,000 bottle wine collection and a hand crafted bar on every floor. Wednesday, July 15, 2009: Laura and the Fun Bunch Big Band kick-off this summer's City of Bayonne Summer Sounds by the Bay concert series! The Fun Bunch is a swinging 16-piece orchestra playing some great charts by Count Basie, Les Brown, Stan Kenton, Quincy Jones, and then some! Friday, July 31, 2009: Laura returns to Grasso's in Cold Spring Harbor, the north shore's hottest jazz spot! The cuisine is terrific and the ambiance is perfect for vocal jazz with a lovely grand piano. And speaking of grand, the fantabulous Arbors Records artist Larry Ham will be joining me on piano! Larry has a long history of playing with the Lionel Hampton Orchestra, Illinois Jacquet Big Band, and with countless other jazz legends, including the late Earl May. The New Jersey Jazz Society is dedicated to the performance, promotion and preservation of jazz. Founded in 1972, the Society is run by a board of directors who meet monthly to conduct the business of staging our music festivals, awarding scholarships to deserving New Jersey college jazz studies students, conducting the Generations of Jazz programs in local school systems, and inducting pioneers and legends of jazz into the American Jazz Hall of Fame, among other things.
The membership is comprised of jazz devotees from all parts of the state, the country and the world. The Society publishes a monthly magazine, Jersey Jazz, which contains feature articles, photos, music calendars, concert reviews, and Society information, and is free with membership.
